You act as though finding new, unique sounds is a bad thing, and you argue that we'll just run out of sounds. That is not true at all. Even if it was, wouldn't you like the glory of being a pioneer of finding new sounds instead of just another random music artist using presets?
Presets are meant to demonstrate the features of the synthesizer, and are meant to be easiler reverse engineered so you can learn from them. And no, you aren't the first to use default sounds. You should have heard my first song in FL. It used nothing but presets.
And your song was original, just didn't have a unique sound to it.
The bass in that song was recorded with a live bass guitar, mixed with a few layered synths, the patches of which were not presets.

Hey, I just noticed that the guy who reviewed "How do, EQ?" used a song at the end of his FL Studio tutorial (Flash movie) which had the same bassline as "Eddy's Game".
What an obscure coincidence!
Oh, and don't worry too much about using presets just now. If you're like me, then as you get more experienced with music you'll start to crave variety, but for now it doesn't really matter too much. =)
